The Institute's assessment model recognises that experienced professionals acquire significant knowledge and competence through professional practice as well as formal education.
For applicable Chartered Specialist and Practitioner certifications, assessment comprises:
Academic qualifications, professional certifications, identity documentation, professional history and other relevant credentials are subject to verification.
Candidates demonstrate professional competence through evidence of experience, responsibilities, achievements, professional development and application of knowledge.
Candidates analyse a significant professional project, organisational challenge, strategic initiative or assignment in which they have personally participated.
Assessment decisions are based upon the evidence presented by the applicant against the applicable professional requirements. Where necessary, the Institute may:
CIMS seeks to maintain consistency and integrity through documented assessment requirements, credential verification, assessment records, professional standards and periodic review of its certification frameworks.
The Institute reserves the right to withhold, defer or decline certification where the evidence submitted does not satisfactorily demonstrate the required standard.
