Membership recognises an individual's professional standing, qualifications, experience and contribution at the applicable stage of their career. Membership grades are awarded following the Institute's applicable admission and assessment requirements.
Practitioner credentials recognise demonstrated professional capability within a defined area of professional practice.
Specialist credentials are designed for professionals demonstrating established knowledge, experience and applied competence within a specialist management discipline.
Applicable Chartered certifications represent advanced professional recognition following successful completion of the Institute's prescribed professional assessment requirements.
For experienced professionals, CIMS may use RPL to assess competence developed through professional practice, prior education, leadership responsibilities, professional development and significant career achievements. RPL does not mean automatic certification based on years of experience – applicants must provide satisfactory evidence and successfully complete the prescribed assessment requirements.
CIMS professional certifications and designations are professional credentials. Unless expressly stated otherwise, they should not be represented as university degrees, governmental licences or statutory authorisations.
