CIMS maintains formal verification procedures so that employers, partner organisations, professional bodies and other authorised parties can confirm that a credential presented to them was genuinely issued by the Institute, and that it remains current. Depending on how a credential was issued, it can be verified either through its digital verification record or by a manual request handled directly by the Institute.
Where a CIMS credential was issued through the Institute's secure digital credentialing system, its authenticity can be confirmed directly through the credential's own online verification record. This is the fastest and most reliable way to verify a CIMS credential, and should be used first whenever it is available.
Every eligible credential is assigned a unique reference number tied to a single holder and award.
Scanning the QR code printed on the certificate opens its official verification record directly.
Select credentials carry a blockchain-anchored record that cannot be altered after issue.
The verification record shows current status, so lapsed or withdrawn credentials are clearly flagged.
If a credential carries a Credential ID, QR code or blockchain record with an active verification link, use that record as the primary means of confirming authenticity. It is quicker than a manual request and reflects the credential's real-time status.
For certificates that predate the Institute's digital credentialing system, or that otherwise require verification directly by CIMS, submit a request with the details below. Requests missing any of this information may be delayed or unable to be processed.
Located beneath the hologram security feature on the certificate, where applicable. Quote it exactly as printed.
The full name of the credential holder, exactly as it appears on the certificate.
Requests must come from your organisation's official email domain. Requests from personal email addresses (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, etc.) may not be processed.
All formal requests are handled by verify@charteredims.com. Use the form alongside this section to prepare your request.
CIMS verifies credentials issued directly within the scope of the Institute. It does not hold or verify records for academic degrees or state and statutory professional licences.
For anything not covered above, or to follow up on a submitted request, reach out to the Institute directly.
