An appeal is different from a complaint. An assessment appeal is a formal request for review of an assessment decision on appropriate procedural or evidential grounds. An appeal should not be based solely upon disagreement with professional judgement.

Where an appeal is accepted for review, CIMS may refer the matter to an appropriate assessor, review panel or Institute authority not materially responsible for the original disputed decision, where practicable.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that the original decision will be changed.
CIMS reserves the right to reject complaints or appeals that are abusive, frivolous, unsupported, outside the applicable scope or submitted in bad faith.
